When we bought our dutch oven, I read the reviews for the lid lifter that was reccomended and realized I would prefer to have one that kept the lid stable and would help keep the ashes out of the food. This lid lifter did just that. It was a little tricky to get the hang of using it. It allow you to open the pot without the lid being at all tippy and so helped to keep ashes out of the food. I would recommend this.
